Hood Warfare 2 Game Modes: All Six Objectives Explained

Hood Warfare 2 launched on Steam on October 8, 2026 with six game modes: Turf War, GangBang, Chaos, Hit A Lick, Destroy The Block and Chain Snatch. Five are gang-versus-gang team modes, Chaos is the only free-for-all, and every objective below is quoted from Trapstar Games' own store page.

  • Five team modes: Turf War, GangBang, Hit A Lick, Destroy The Block, Chain Snatch.
  • One solo mode: Chaos — no gang loyalty, most kills wins.
  • Custom matches: pick map, mode and match settings, then add bots to fill the teams.
  • Match numbers (score limits, timers, round counts) are still unpublished as of October 12, 2026.

Turf War: Hold Ground, Get Paid for It

Gangs fight for control of turf around the map. Earn points for the territory your gang holds, and push the other team off theirs.

Turf War is the mode the title is built on, and the only one whose official text says outright that you earn points passively for holding ground. Two things win it: standing on territory your gang owns, and shoving the other gang off theirs — every zone you flip adds to your score and cuts theirs.

The official trailer marks a zone with a red capture ring painted across a loading lot between two box trucks — the clearest look at how a zone is drawn.

Zone count per map, point tick rate, target score and match timer: not published. Play it on Downtown, where long street sightlines make holding a zone a rifle problem rather than a sprinting one.

GangBang: The Straight Team Shootout

A classic team shootout. Two gangs go head-to-head, and the gang with the most kills wins.

No bags, no bombs, no zones — GangBang is a pure kill race, the mode that leans hardest on gunskill and on your loadout. With nothing else on the scoreboard, killstreaks and staying alive matter more here than in any objective mode.

Kill limit, respawn timer and friendly-fire setting: not published.

Chaos: The Only Mode Without a Team

Every man for himself. There is no loyalty to a gang in this mode. Get the most kills to come out on top.

Chaos drops the gang structure entirely. GameRant's October 12, 2026 breakdown flags the detail that matters for matchmaking: Chaos is the only Hood Warfare 2 mode that is not team-based — with no crew behind you, the tips and tricks that matter are the ones about winning your own 1v1s.

Lobby size and the kill count that ends it: not published.

Hit A Lick: Steal Their Bag, Watch Yours

Take the bag from the enemy's hood and bring it back to yours. Keep an eye on your own bag while your crew goes after theirs.

Hit A Lick runs both ways at once: your crew attacks while you still defend the bag in your own half. The official wording — "keep an eye on your own bag" — confirms each side has one, so a push that empties your defence can be answered by a single enemy runner. GameRant calls the mode capture-the-flag-style.

Points per capture, bag respawn rules and what happens when the carrier dies: not published.

Destroy The Block: Plant, Defuse, One Life per Round

One gang has the bomb. The other has to stop them. Plant or defuse to win, with only one life per round.

One side carries the bomb, the other stops the plant, and one life per round locks a dead player out until the next round starts. GameRant calls the setup Counter-Strike-esque, and that single-life rule is why this mode plays slower than the other five.

Rounds to win, side swapping, and the fuse and defuse timers: not published.

Chain Snatch: A Kill Is Only Half the Job

Getting the kill is only half the job. Snatch the chains enemies drop to earn points, and collect your teammates' chains before the other gang gets them.

Two scoring plays in one. A kill is not a confirmed point until someone grabs the chain the enemy drops, and a death is not a clean loss until the enemy collects your chain — teammates can pick yours up first. Dexerto pairs this mode with Call of Duty's Kill Confirmed, the closest of the six press comparisons.

Points per chain, chain despawn time and whether a recovered chain equals a stolen one: not published.

What Has Not Been Published About Mode Rules

Rule detail Status as of October 12, 2026
Player cap per mode or per lobby Not announced
Whether bots play every objective properly Not documented — the official text only says bots fill out the teams
Ranked play, playlists or mode rotation Not announced
No official patch notes exist yet

As of October 12, 2026 the game's only official Steam news posts are the October 4 release reminder and the October 8 launch announcement, which promises updates "comin soon". Until Trapstar publishes rules or patch notes, any specific mode number circulating elsewhere is unverified.

The Call of Duty Comparisons — And The Other One

Dexerto maps the six modes onto Call of Duty equivalents (Turf War as Domination, GangBang as Team Deathmatch, Chaos as free-for-all, Hit A Lick as Capture the Flag, Destroy The Block as Search and Destroy, Chain Snatch as Kill Confirmed) and attributes the wider "feels like COD" impression to killstreaks, create-a-class and a Modern Warfare-style HUD. GameRant reads the same build as a GTA-style team PvP shooter with a Counter-Strike-esque bomb mode. Both are press framings; Trapstar's own text only talks about gangs, Chicago and turf.

Playing The Modes With Friends, Randoms and Bots

The official description is explicit about setup: "Play online with friends and other players, or set up a match against bots. Choose your map, mode, and match settings, and add bots to fill out the teams." That covers the whole lineup; the menu flow is on the bot mode page.

Two limits worth knowing before you plan a session:

  • Crossplay is not announced. Hood Warfare 2 is a Windows-only Steam release, and as of October 12, 2026 there has been no crossplay or console announcement — see crossplay status.
  • Lobby population moves fast. Media-reported peaks: 2,686 concurrent players on October 11 (GameRant), 4,491 on October 12 (Insider Gaming) — snapshots, not official counts. See player count and Steam charts for the current reading.

Progression runs across all six modes — reputation unlocks weapons and equipment, weapon challenges unlock attachments, per-gun kills unlock skins (details). New to the game? Start with the beginner guide.
