Hood Warfare 2 added an anti cheat in patch 1.0.10. How the reporting system works, what gets players banned and what to do about cheaters.
Hood Warfare 2 Anti Cheat: Cheaters, Reports and Bans
Hood Warfare 2 added an anti-cheat system on October 12, 2026 with patch 1.0.10, and fixed false anti-cheat kicks on October 14. Reporting uses the Report option in the pause menu; Trapstar Games reviews reports and bans players it finds cheating. No vendor, ban length or appeal path is published.
- Added: patch 1.0.10, October 12, 2026, 16:35 UTC - an anti-cheat system plus a pause-menu Report action.
- Fixed: patch 1.0.1.4, October 14, 2026, 01:03 UTC - the anti-cheat was "kicking players falsely".
- Unchanged since: patches 1.0.1.7 and 1.0.1.8 cover parties, weapons and netcode, with no anti-cheat line.
- Still unpublished: the anti-cheat's name, its supplier, ban length and appeals.

What the Hood Warfare 2 anti cheat actually is
The system arrived as one bullet in a four-bullet patch. The developer's entire published explanation is a single paragraph, in official wording:
Many of yall addressed concerns over cheating so we implemented an anti cheat system to hopefully prevent some of it. If you see a cheater, please use the 'Report' feature in the pause menu as well. We review the reports often so if a player gets a lot of reports and we deem them to be cheating they will be banned.
Its name, author and method are missing rather than hidden.
| Question | What is officially known | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Does the game have an anti-cheat? | Yes - the patch is headed "ANTI CHEAT ADDED" and the note says "we implemented an anti cheat system" | Patch post, October 12, 2026 |
| What is it called? | Nothing. No announcement, store page or trailer names a product | Official feed, checked October 18, 2026 |
| Who runs it? | Trapstar Games: the note says "we implemented" and "we review the reports" | Patch post |
| Is it kernel level? | Never stated, and the store listing's category list carries no anti-cheat or VAC label | Steam store page, checked October 18, 2026 |
| Can it ban by itself? | Nothing says so. Reports are "reviewed" and the developer then "deem[s]" a player to be cheating | Patch post |
How to report a cheater in Hood Warfare 2
The developer documented one path, so skip the improvisation and use it:
- Open the pause menu while the match is still running.
- Pick the Report option for the player you believe is cheating.
- Leave the arguing to someone else. The note asks for reports and never describes a chat-based route.
- Send bugs, not cheater reports, to the Discord.
What happens afterwards is one sentence long: reports are reviewed often, a heavily reported player is examined, and players the developer decides are cheating get banned. Volume matters because "a lot of reports" is the stated trigger, and the final call is a judgment because the text says "we deem".
Nothing promises a reply, a confirmation or a timeline, and there is no ticket system, no appeal form and no published ban list. Use the levers you control instead: private matches keep invited lobbies free of strangers, and the best settings page removes the lag and visibility problems players often mistake for cheating.

What gets a player banned
Two documents govern cheating here: the developer's note and Steam's platform terms.
| Behaviour | What the rules say | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Using aimbots, wallhacks and similar | The studio bans players it decides are cheating after reviewing reports | Patch 1.0.10 |
| Blocking the anti-cheat | Forbidden by Steam: do not "disable, circumvent, or otherwise interfere with the operation of software designed to prevent or report the use of Cheats" | Steam Subscriber Agreement, section 4.B |
| Scripts, macros and automation | Covered as "Automation" and prohibited in Steam content | Steam Subscriber Agreement, section 4.C |
| Collecting a lot of reports | The stated trigger: heavy reports lead to a review and then a decision | Patch 1.0.10 |
| Being good at the game | Not a ban reason; no developer statement describes skill-based bans | No such policy is published |
| Getting dropped by the anti-cheat | A recognised bug, fixed on October 14, not a punishment | Patch 1.0.1.4 |
Two enforcement layers run side by side. Trapstar Games handles the in-game anti-cheat and its bans; Valve handles the Steam account, and its agreement lets Valve "restrict or terminate" accounts for cheating.
Official source: Steam Subscriber Agreement - section 4, "ONLINE CONDUCT, CHEATING AND AUTOMATION", which defines Cheats and forbids interfering with software built to "prevent or report" them.
Patch 1.0.1.4, posted October 14, 2026 at 01:03 UTC, lists "Fixed Issues with Anti Cheat kicking players falsely" as a headline item. If matches dropped you around October 12 and 13, that was the acknowledged issue rather than a penalty.
The anti-cheat timeline after 1.0.10
Four patches in six days, and only two of them mention anti-cheat at all:
| Date (UTC) | Version | Anti-cheat line | Other headline items |
|---|---|---|---|
| October 12, 2026, 16:35 | 1.0.10 | "ANTI CHEAT ADDED" plus the pause-menu Report feature | Voice chat, spawn protection, 10+ bug fixes |
| October 14, 2026, 01:03 | 1.0.1.4 | "Fixed Issues with Anti Cheat kicking players falsely" | Private matches, audio output fix, join and crash fixes |
| October 16, 2026, 06:59 | 1.0.1.7 | None | Party invites, party queuing, crash and connectivity fixes |
| October 17, 2026, 08:18 | 1.0.1.8 | None | Draco and ARP weapons, grenade rework, netcode reworks |
Version numbers do not run in a straight line - 1.0.10 shipped before 1.0.1.4 - so sort the feed by date, not by number. Each entry comes from the Steam announcements feed, the only place Trapstar Games publishes, and the patch notes tracker keeps the running list.
Patch 1.0.1.4's own note tells players to confirm the version in the bottom right corner of the menu and warns that you may need to fully exit Steam to receive an update.
What players still report
The anti-cheat did not end the complaints. These are English Steam reviews written after the October 12 patch:
| Player's own words | Recorded | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| "It's good, but if you don't get rid of the cheaters I'll be gone tomorrow. 90% of the opponents are aim bot now, smh!! pull the block!" | October 18, 2026 | Positive |
| "Good exept the cheaters" | October 18, 2026 | Positive |
| "this jungle dweller is hacking and having fun which is crazy" | October 18, 2026 | Negative |
| "Hacker in my first game. So ridicules for a new game that just came out." | October 17, 2026 | Negative |
| "this game could've been good but its trash being dominated by cheaters" | October 17, 2026 | Negative |
| "I didn't notice any cheaters. Every time I died I knew it was skill gap." | October 18, 2026 | Positive |
Two readings survive that sample. The system has not cleared the lobbies: the loudest complaints describe aimbots and a hacker in a first match. Perception also outruns evidence: on the same day, a positive review insists it met no cheaters and credits a skill gap. Neither reading can be measured, because no ban counter or report statistics are published.
The complaints predate the fix: an October 10 to 12 review reads "It's fun but it's full of cheaters. Refunded after one game." - written before the anti-cheat existed. The Worth It verdict weighs that history against the rest of the game, and the tips page tracks which launch problems patches have closed.
Refunds run through Steam's standard policy, which turns on playtime and purchase window rather than the presence of cheaters - see Steam refunds. Private lobbies and bot matches skip public servers entirely, and the player count page shows how busy the public pool is when you queue.
What is still not published
None of the questions players ask about the system appears in an official post as of October 18, 2026.
| Unknown | Status |
|---|---|
| Anti-cheat vendor or product name | Never named in an announcement |
| Kernel-level or user-level operation | Not stated |
| Ban type, duration or scope | Not stated, and no ban policy page exists |
| Appeal process | None published |
| Report categories and required evidence | Undescribed; the post only says to use the Report feature |
| Human review versus automation | "We review the reports often" implies a decision rather than an instant trigger |
Steam's platform conduct rules are the other published standard: Steam Online Conduct.
FAQ
Why does it feel like there is a hacker in every lobby? Because one cheater is highly visible in a fast shooter, and because reviews from October 17 and 18, 2026 still describe aimbots in first matches. A review from the same week says the opposite, and no ban counter or report statistics are published, so nobody outside the studio can measure it.
How do I report a cheater in Hood Warfare 2? Open the pause menu during a match and use the Report option, the developer's own instruction from the patch 1.0.10 post: "If you see a cheater, please use the 'Report' feature in the pause menu as well." No website form or Discord reporting path is documented.
Did the anti-cheat kick me by mistake? Possibly, if it happened around October 12 and 13, 2026: patch 1.0.1.4 fixed "Issues with Anti Cheat kicking players falsely" on October 14. A kick is not a ban either way, and no ban notification system is described.
Will one report get a player banned? No. The post ties bans to "a lot of reports" followed by a review and a decision. Report what you actually saw, and do not mass-report players who are simply better - no anti-abuse rule for reports is published.
Is Hood Warfare 2's anti-cheat kernel-level? Not stated. No announcement names a vendor, no store label mentions anti-cheat or VAC, and the patch note describes behaviour rather than technology. The accurate answer is unknown, not no.
Can I get a refund if a cheater ruined my match? Refunds follow Steam's standard policy, based on playtime and purchase window - see Steam refunds - and a ruined match is not an official refund category.
